Introductory Articles by Oilfield Review Editors

To explain complex topics to new readers, Oilfield Review presents a series of short articles that detail the underlying concepts and technologies on which the E&P industry is built. These “Defining” articles are intended for a wider audience than the E&P professionals who typically read Oilfield Review.

"Defining Logging," the first of the series, reflects the origin of Schlumberger in subsurface logging. The series covers the basics: exploration, drilling, completions, perforation, cementing, porosity, and seismic acquisition.

Whether you are new to the industry or just looking to review the basics, we hope you’ll use this series as a resource and forward the links or share the articles with friends, people in other industries, and anyone who wants to understand the basics as well as get a better picture of the technical challenges and technological solutions pursued by the oil and gas industry.
