Overview

Primary surfactant, wetting agent for FAZEPRO RDF systems

FAZE‐MUL surfactant is the primary emulsifier and wetting agent for the FAZEPRO system. FAZE‐MUL surfactant provides excellent emulsion stability and preferential wetting of solids by the continuous, non‐aqueous phase. It has the unique ability to reverse to an oil/synthetic‐in‐water emulsion, for the best possible completion cleanup.

Applications

FAZE‐MUL surfactant will form the basic brine‐in‐oil/synthetic emulsion required for the FAZEPRO system. Initial system formulations require 8 to 12 lb/bbl (22.8 to 34.2 kg/m3), depending on the properties desired and other components in the system. Daily treatments with FAZE‐MUL surfactant will enhance the emulsion characteristics of these systems. Daily treatments are usually in the 0.05 to 0.5‐lb/bbl (0.14 to 1.4‐kg/m3) range. FAZE‐MUL surfactant is used to maintain reversibility and increase viscosity. FAZE‐MUL surfactant is activated by lime and works better at lower levels (<4 lb/bbl or <11.46 kg/m3) of excess lime.

Advantages

  • Multi‐purpose product that can be used in a wide variety of base‐fluid systems
  • Improves emulsion stability
  • Can be reversed to water‐wetting state for improved filter cake cleanup in any open‐hole completion scenario from barefoot to gravel packs Provides FAZEPRO system‐compatible penetrating surfactant when used in breaker systems
