Rheological and fluid‐loss control additive
THINSMART is an organic material used to control the rheological and fluid‐loss properties of water‐base drilling fluids. It is temperature stable and is effective well in most water‐base muds.
THINSMART additive is designed to be used in virtually all water‐base drilling fluids to deflocculate drill solids and provide fluid‐loss control. It is effective at temperatures greater than 300°F (149°C). Its performance is not significantly affected by contaminants. It overcomes cement contamination and reacts with calcium to lessen the contaminating effects on the drilling fluid.
