Seismic inversion uses calibrated information from wells to extract formation properties from seismic data. The resulting datasets offer information about thickness, density, and shear and compressional velocity, allowing calculation of petrophysical properties, which is key to assessing the value of a prospect. DCS workflows and expertise enable creation of pore pressure cubes for optimum mud weight profiles, reducing drilling risk, and choosing casing point locations, which can improve wellbore trajectory planning.

DCS experts’ ability to process and interpret walkaway and 2D VSP data allows modeling even the most challenging subsalt or fractured formations. Proprietary algorithms are used to solve the challenges of detecting salt boundaries and of resolving fracture patterns and connectivity. Advances in seismic processing provide better models of these formations that can be used to target the often bountiful resources trapped inside.

Enhance reservoir stimulation operations

DCS can monitor, process, and interpret microseismic events during changing reservoir stress states, for example, during hydraulic fracturing. Services include microseismic detection and location, uncertainty analysis, data integration, and visualization for interpretation. The processed data can be used to improve the results of stimulation as well as for fault mapping, reservoir imaging, waterflood monitoring, and other operations.

Update models in real time

DCS seismic-derived earth models include lithology, pay, porosity, and fluids in place. Seismic-while-drilling services provide the means to seamlessly update these models. Updated models can improve the current well placement operation and provide valuable information for future development.
