Overview

UniQ geophysical land survey system available for lease or purchase

The proven UniQ integrated point-receiver land seismic system from WesternGeco is now available for lease or purchase to energy companies and service contractors who wish to take the lead in onshore seismic quality, efficiency, and productivity.

UniQ integrated point-receiver land seismic system

The UniQ System is capable of acquiring over 200,000 live channels of seismic data while executing the latest high productivity source techniques.

A wide range of applications:

  • Fast-moving, low-density fit-for-purpose structural imaging
  • Solutions for difficult noise environments
  • Superior imaging of complex geology
  • Wide-azimuth, broad-bandwidth reservoir characterization.

UniQ system purchase and lease options

Purchase—outright transfer of ownership
Purchase of the UniQ system includes outright transfer of ownership, commissioning, full training on acquisition and infield data processing, and a 3-year warranty. Optional services include infield processing support and repair and maintenance support.

Lease—from 1 month to long term
The lease option includes full training on the acquisition systems and, for long-term leases, training on the data processing systems. Support can also be provided for infield processing, repair and maintenance and onsite acquisition. Flexible lease-to-purchase options are also available.

Technologies

Central Acquisition SystemCentral acquisition system

The UniQ central acquisition system architecture is optimized to meet the challenges of high-channel count, high-productivity acquisition.

The continuous recording system can be scaled from 10,000 to over 200,000 channels as required. The central system functionality enables continuous domain quality control of seismic data and equipment status, as well as real-time monitoring of sensor tilt and cable leakage.

Ground EquipmentGround equipment

The UniQ ground equipment is designed to enable the most efficient implementation of high-capacity point-receiver acquisition via:

  • Built-in redundancies as standard in all spread configurations
  • Integrated sensor strings to minimise line cable requirements
  • Self-testing sensors & continuous equipment QC to minimise or eliminate equipment testing time
  • Self-calibrating & self-describing data to minimise data processing errors and provide enhanced processing options
  • High-capacity fibre-optic data transport network to prevent bottle-necking and provide redundancy
  • Low power requirements

iManage Acquisition Planning and Management ToolAcquisition planning and management

The iManage acquisition planning and management tool enables optimized geophysical, equipment deployment, and production pre-planning of UniQ surveys. During a UniQ operation the iManage system acts as the single point of ownership for all acquisition and source parameters to eliminate common sources of error during acquisition. During production, iManage tracks acquisition progress and provides acknowledgments to the UniQ central system to ensure no source points are omitted.

Integrated Source ControlIntegrated source control

The integrated source control (ISC) system is an enhanced timing and communications solution that integrates current third party source controllers with the UniQ central system to deliver enhanced timing, productivity and quality control functionality.

The ISC supports all current high productivity simultaneous vibroseis techniques and variants, and can execute customized acquisitions based on programmed distance, timing and spread condition rules.

Positioning and testing

The mobile positioning and testing system (MPTS) enables positioning while layout of the UniQ sensor units and other key ground electronics. MPTS functionality includes tilt monitoring and the ability to insert position and environmental information directly in the memory of each sensor unit at the time of deployment or at any time thereafter (e.g. following an unplanned offset). This information in then injected into the trace header of the associated seismic data trace, and is available for use in subsequent data processing.

Infield seismic data processing

Infield Seismic Data ProcessingHigh-channel count/high-productivity acquisition of uncorrelated data presents significant data management, quality control and processing challenges. Omega based algorithms have been specially developed to meet high throughput, data separation & correlation requirements of simultaneous vibroseis operations. Additional Omega modules provide options for specialized point-receiver noise attenuation and near-surface characterization.
