As one of the first foreign technology companies to enter China during the reform and opening up of the country, SLB has a history of more than 40 years in China. In the last a few decades, SLB has expanded from one business line to more than 20 operating lines covering the upstream of oil and gas field development, industry digitalization as well as energy innovation. Moreover, it has invested in the construction of a comprehensive business chain including R&D, procurement and production, which further strengthens its strategy, in China, for China.
There are four main business organizations:
China Energy Technology Services is committed to providing customers with comprehensive results-oriented energy innovation solutions. Its headquarters is in Beijing and supports operations throughout North Asia. There are three regional offices located in Shenzhen (China), Tokyo (Japan), and Seoul (South Korea). At the same time, there are bases in the following cities: Tianjin, Huizhou, Daqing, Dongying, Jingbian, Chengdu, Karamay, Korla, Haikou, Miaoli (Taiwan) and Nagaoka (Japan).

In 2000, SLB officially established Beijing Geoscience Center (BGC) in Tsinghua University Science Park (TusPark) in Beijing. As one of SLB's largest digital R&D centers in the world, BGC mainly focuses on the development of data acquisition, transmission, and interpretation software in the field of energy development. The software includes data acquisition and transmission systems for wireline and measurements/logging while drilling (MWD/LWD), drilling systems, data interpretation and simulation systems for reservoirs and wells, and data transmission systems, etc.
In addition, BGC has heavily invested in cutting-edge software development and digital technologies (e.g. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Cloud Applications, Microservices Architecture, Automated Testing, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery), which is directly supporting the digital transformation of SLB and the energy industry as a whole.

In 2009, Asia Global Sourcing Center (AGS) was established in Shanghai by integrating China, Singapore, and India sourcing centers, focusing on Asian suppliers. Currently AGS has three main functional teams: Sourcing, Supplier Management, and Supplier Quality. We create synergy for different stakeholders & leveraging SLB size with strategic suppliers for Technology/Manufacturing centers located across US, EU and Asia. AGS is also leading the way on its initiatives with suppliers for sustainability reporting and climate actions.
