Petrel™ play and prospect assessment is a map-based assessment workflow with a flexible setup that enables users to assess conventional and unconventional opportunities.

  • Calculate overall play risk for areas of interest
  • Perform rapid screenings
  • Evaluate key chance of success parameters in a play
  • Compare prospects in terms of chance of success and range of volume
  • Build models and evaluate results of simulations

Your company’s risk model from GeoX exploration risk, resource, and value assessment software’s database can be imported and used with different volume estimation methods. Assessment units can be defined using geopolygons, manually, or from the Play Chance Mapping package in Petrel subsurface software. The generated results then define the geological chance of success and resource potential for the units. The results can be saved into the corporate exploration portfolio in the GeoX software database.
