A reliable barrier for wellbore isolation

The pump-open sub of Peak Family™ flow control and well intervention tools provides a reliable single barrier against wellbore contents. Its plunger is securely held in place by a series of shear screws designed to release when a predetermined pressure is applied from above. Once the pressure threshold is reached and the plunger is sheared out, it creates a clear flow path that allows full equalization across the barrier device. The pump-open sub supports shearing even with debris-restricted access to the primary equalizing facility. The sub’s robust design supports effective circulation and communication, preventing the recovery of wet tubing strings or unintended production of wellbore contents.

The Peak Family pump-open sub is deployed as part of a downhole plug assembly to

  • provide a barrier while setting hydraulically set packers prior to plug recovery
  • enable remote opening without any intervention
  • create tubing overbalance prior to fracture stimulation operations
  • provide a contingent equalizing device in high-debris environments
  • create a mechanical barrier during wellhead removal or tree valve maintenance.
  • Minimizes wireline runs
  • Eliminates unnecessary well debris
  • Enables shear out even with debris restrictions
