Agile field development planning solution
Accelerate time from exploration to production with the FDPlan™ agile field development planning solution.
The FDPlan solution enables users to execute end-to-end workflows on the Delfi™ digital platform, that evaluate different projects and development options using data from various sources and tools. FDPlan helps users optimise their decision making and maximise the value of their assets by providing a comprehensive and integrated platform for data management, analysis, and visualisation.
How it works
FDPlan allows users to define and execute evaluation workflows consisting of three main components: input data sources, computations, and results. Users can select workflows from a library of predefined or custom tools, and FDPlan will automatically run them and capture the outputs. Each component is explained below:
→ Input data sources: these are the sources of data that are required for the evaluation, such as subsurface, surface, wells, economics, and other relevant data. Users can link to data sources from different databases, files, or applications, and FDPlan will automatically extract and validate that data. Settings defining how the data will be used and processed can be customized in the workflow, such as units, filters, scenarios, and assumptions. Users can specify input details using forms, tables, or charts, and FDPlan will automatically apply them to the data.
→ Computes: these are the tools or engines that perform calculations or simulations on the data as part of the workflow, such as reservoir models, production forecasts, economic models, and risk analysis.
→ Results: these are the outputs of the workflow that show the performance and value of the projects and development options, such as key performance objectives (KPO) graphs, maps, reports, and dashboards. Users can view, compare, and export results using various formats and visualization options—the FDPlan solution will automatically update them as the data or inputs change.
Domain orchestration at each stage of the process
The evaluation platform is open and extensible. In addition, a workflow library has been developed to achieve specific objectives in the different stages of the planning process, from a simple economic evaluation to assess asset profitability, to a detailed workflow where the entire field layout is generated. A production forecast is created and amalgamated economic projections to calculate the KPIs needed to make critical decisions.
Here is a list of the main out-of-the-box workflows available to implement immediately. Depending on specific requirements, additional engines, combined calculations, or completely new workflows can be created.
→ Field economic evaluation: for economic analysis of development scenarios, ready to be used in an evaluation with an existing production forecast that combines basic or detailed economics information.
→ Economic evaluation with incremental production: for economic analysis of development scenarios. The production forecast is defined as the difference between two production profiles (Base and Base + Incremental). This workflow is ideal for brownfield evaluation.
→ Development concept generator (DCG): DCG is a workflow for optimal and quick field layout generation of hundreds of development concepts, enabling multiple domain experts to collaborate in the same environment. DCG makes delivering an “optimal” integrated well, facility, and pipeline solution possible, minimizing capex while meeting drilling and surface constraints. Two versions of DCG are available, one for greenfield and no-facilities, and another one for brownfield with existing wells and facilities.
→ Well-driven evaluation: orchestrates data to determine whether a development scenario for an asset is commercially viable. The workflow uses type curves, rig availability, facility constraints, and economics information. It is most valuable during the first stages of the planning process for appraisal, and greenfield/near field exploration.
→ Sidetrack generator: allows users to perform a complete evaluation of side-track trajectory opportunities, from technical to economic viability, obtaining optimized and feasible results, proposing a schedule, and evaluating the profitability of each scenario. This is ideal for brownfield re-development.
→ Cost phased and Aggregator: these engines combine information to create a cost profile and combine it with a fiscal model and production and price forecasts.
Our library of out-of-the-box workflows is continually growing. Contact your SLB focal point for more information.
→ Onshore and offshore
→ Greenfields, brownfields, conceptual planning from exploration stages and annual planning cycles
→ Oil and gas, carbon capture, utilization and sequestration (CCUS), emissions calculator
Challenge: Misalignment of domain experts working on projects
Benefits: Aligning domain specialists to accelerate project delivery
Challenge: Many studies and concepts are disconnected across the value chain
Benefits: Planning with confidence by evaluating more scenarios to achieve better returns
Challenge: Inflow of new data and continual market shifts
Benefits: Rapid response to market and data changes
→ Frame the opportunity: quickly identify development scenarios that reflect the risks, decisions, and choices in play. Search for previous knowledge to support each opportunity.
→ Build and evaluate the plan: construct and continuously assess multiple development scenarios.
→ Decide: compare scenarios against business objectives and analyze trade-offs between scenarios to identify “winners” and move forward for development.
→ Document: turn data into knowledge, create evidence for gate approval, and document your decisions.
