MDT Tester: Openhole Sample Transfer
Dedicated system for heating, agitation, and pressurized transfer
Recombine liquid and gas phases of samples retrieved from an open hole.
Retrieve multiple pressure-compensated single-phase samples
The unique single-phase multisample chamber (SPMC) is deployed with the MDT modular formation dynamics tester to recover high-quality pressure-compensated fluid samples during openhole logging operations. Up to six SPMC tools can be run with each MDT modular formation dynamics tester.
The SPMC sampler operates mercury free and eliminates sample flashing by using controlled displacement while collecting reservoir fluid. You’ll acquire truly representative fluid samples for analysis. There is no dead volume, which ensures accurate results, including consistent GOR and saturation pressure data. When sampling program design can control drawdown to a few psi, the SPMC can be used to collect representative samples from near-saturated reservoirs.
The pressure compensation feature provides sample recovery at pressure equal to or greater than reservoir pressure to ensure single phase is maintained. This eliminates the need for sample recombination at surface, meaning your sample transfer takes only minutes instead of hours.
The transportable version of the single-phase multisample chamber (SPMC-T) enables advanced and routine PVT and compositional analyses on the entire range of reservoir fluids, even from HPHT, high-H2S, and deepwater reservoirs. Upon retrieval, samples are restored to reservoir conditions of up to 20,000 psi and 400 degF prior to sample transfer and wellsite or laboratory analysis.
