DI-BALANCE Divalent Brine System Secondary Viscosifier | SLB

DI-BALANCE

Divalent brine system secondary viscosifier

Schlumberger Oilfield Services

Applications

  • Reservoir drill-in fluid applications
  • Systems using the DIPRO high-density divalent reservoir drill-in fluid or the DIPRO LD low-density divalent reservoir drill-in fluid

How it enhances viscosity

DI-BALANCE divalent brine system secondary viscosifier is a fine-particle, highly reactive magnesium compound that interacts synergistically with DI-TROL divalent brine system primary viscosifier additive to enhance the low-shear-rate viscosity of DIPRO or DIPRO LD fluid. It also serves as a pH control agent and secondary fluid loss control additive.

Treatment levels are normally 0.25–2.24 lbm/bbl [0.7–6.4 kg/m3] for reservoir drill-in fluid applications. When building the system, slowly add increments of 0.25 lbm/bbl [0.7 kg/m3] until desired rheological properties are attained.

Limitations

Overtreatment may cause excessive viscosity in DIPRO LD fluids.

Toxicity and handling

Bioassay information is available upon request. Handle as an industrial chemical, wearing protective equipment and observing the precautions as described on the safety datasheet. Also observe the health hazard information and emergency and first aid procedures described.

Shipping/handling instructions
