Schlumberger has become a member of the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association (IPIECA), the first company to join in its new category of Associate Member, which is open to oilfield service companies and engineering, procurement, and construction contractors.
The IPECA is the industry's principle channel of communication with the United Nations on sustainability programs. The IPIECA develops, shares and promotes good practice and knowledge to help the industry improve its environmental and social performance, and is the only global industry association involving both the upstream and downstream oil and gas sectors.
“With its work reaching across climate and energy, environment, and social issues”, notes Dan Domeracki, vice president of government and industry affairs, “the IPIECA vision closely matches our own Global Stewardship approach and we are pleased to be the first service company to join this important association and look forward to exchanging best practices.”
