Digital technologies and collaboration are the cornerstones to achieve the next step change in performance improvement and operational efficiency in the well construction process.

To better integrate data and workflows with digital technologies, Schlumberger launched the DrillPlan digital well construction planning solution within the new DELFI cognitive E&P environment. The solution brings together multiple users, irrespective of their location, to work on a single live well plan in real time and with access to all the relevant data, well planning engines and workflows. Embedded automation of repetitive tasks delivers efficiency and, together, the solution drives coherency of the entire well planning process.

In an article in Drilling Contractor “Next-Level Automation to Go Beyond Discrete Processes, Linking Data and Workflows with Digital Technologies,” Arindam Bhattacharya, president, Schlumberger Land Rigs, explains how the company’s digital technologies are being applied within the industry, discusses further levels of integration through the orchestration of automated drilling activities and how performance-based models create value for the operator and service provider.

The article also highlights examples of collaboration with operators, academia, technology companies and suppliers on both technology development and operations to further improve efficiency and productivity. Read the article here.
