Schlumberger is a member of IPIECA, the global oil and gas industry association for environmental and social issues. Schlumberger was the first company to join in its category of Associate Member created two years ago for oilfield service companies and engineering, procurement, and construction contractors.
Established in 1974, IPIECA develops, shares and promotes good practice and knowledge to help the industry improve its environmental and social performance, and is the only global industry association involving both the upstream and downstream oil and gas sectors. The association is the industry’s principle channel of communication with the United Nations on sustainability programs.
Schlumberger hosted this year’s annual IPIECA Week which brought together its members to participate in panel discussions with experts and industry stakeholders, workshops to learn about and discuss current topics, and meetings for working groups and task forces.
“With its work reaching across climate and energy, environment, and social issues,” notes JF Poupeau, executive vice-president of corporate engagement at Schlumberger, “the IPIECA vision closely matches our own Global Stewardship approach. We are honored to host this year’s annual general meeting to exchange and learn best practices with industry experts during IPIECA Week.”
