The Schlumberger culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration has been recognized this year with an APQC Award for Excellence in Knowledge Management.
“Knowledge sharing at Schlumberger is a part of the company fabric,” notes Susan Rosenbaum, director, discipline career management and knowledge management. “It’s not a separate activity that we talk about—it’s how we work. The culture enables employees to connect daily and learn from one another, helping to deliver better products and services for our customers.”
The award recognizes companies that have mature, adaptive and dynamic knowledge management programs. APQC, a benchmarking and best practices research organization, launched the award this year and recipients are selected based on robust criteria using its knowledge management capability assessment tool across four categories: strategy, people, process, and content and information technology.
The Schlumberger knowledge management system encourages collaboration via well-coordinated internal initiatives, including people–based knowledge sharing communities and a verified operations knowledge and support service.
“Our knowledge management program facilitates sharing, networking and learning for everyone,” says Rosenbaum. “This award is a testament to the outstanding teamwork and collaboration of our employees worldwide who share their collective expertise across the company’s day-to-day activities to address and solve technical challenges.”
