By adding the multicycle hydraulic underreamer of the Rhino™ integrated borehole enlargement system to the suite of technologies used on the project, a major operator successfully drilled and enlarged an extended-reach reservoir section offshore Norway in one run. This represents the longest horizontal well ever drilled by the operator in this location.

While previous deepwater offshore wells in Norway had been drilled with a similar well path and depth, there were issues with the reamer leading to high NPT.

By leveraging the latest improvements and updates in Rhino™ integrated borehole enlargement system technology, the operator successfully drilled, marking the longest horizontal well ever drilled in this location by the operator. To increase wear resistance, the cutter block was fitted with the latest thermal cutter technology. In total, 3,356 m (11,010 ft) was drilled.
