With the oil and gas industry’s focus shifting from development of new, costly sites to coaxing more resources from established plays that are more economical, artificial lift will play an increasingly important role in the E&P sector. This review discusses how service providers are supplying more cost-effective solutions, including how Schlumberger, research, and development efforts are enabling producers to extract increased resources while operating in ever-deeper, higher-temperature environments.
