The ACTive PS integrated coiled-tubing service leverages the system’s telemetry capabilities to allow conveyance of the most critical measurements commonly run with wireline services. In the Arabian Gulf, the M Field consists of 27 man-made islands connected by 25 miles of causeway. Most of the wells are extended-reach; stretching laterally up to 31,000 ft. Production in this field is enhanced by massive flooding through power-water injectors that employ 7-in tubing and 6 1/8-in barefoot completions up to 6,000 ft in length. Saudi Aramco sought a solution to prevent acid from localizing in highly permeable zones. To do so, a means of ensuring high-quality data of the memory log was needed. The ACTive PS system was used to provide a multipurpose CT string that enabled treatment and logging, providing real-time, high-bandwidth data measurements that enabled the operator to make changes in processes and to optimize results and minimize costs.
