Background

Medium-hard interbedded shales, sandstone, and carbonates, along with hard anhydrite near the end of the interval, characterize the 26-in upper sections of the presalt wells drilled at Buzios Field. Two or more runs were necessary to finish these sections in previous wells. Petrobras needed to improve efficiency by drilling each 26-in section in a single run with optimized ROP.
