Background
When drilling out the complementary 7-in casing section in a well offshore Mexico, the operator wanted to add a drilling jar to the BHA should the drillstring become stuck. Schlumberger recommended a Hydra-Jar AP double-acting hydraulic drilling jar, which is balanced to hydrostatic pressure through ports open to the wellbore, ensuring consistent hitting performance regardless of downhole pressure changes.
