SLB has once again been recognized as a global sustainability leader at the SEAL Business Sustainability Awards, which honor leadership, innovation and commitment to sustainable business practices.
“Granularity was the theme of the 2023 sustainability awards. Across all industries and geographies, companies are going deep and granular—into materials, chemistry, processes, R&D and more—to generate sustainability improvements,” said Matt Harney, Chairperson and Founder of SEAL Awards. “Corporate ESG leadership—like our 2023 honorees have demonstrated—is absolutely needed to address our climate crisis.”
SLB was awarded the Sustainable Service Award for its Celsius Energy system which enables large facilities to reduce their carbon footprint by switching from traditional methods of heating and cooling to a geoenergy solution. The Sustainable Service Award celebrates innovative services that have set a new standard for sustainability based on impact metrics, uniqueness of the service and ability to inspire sustainable change.
“The SEAL Sustainable Service Award is a powerful validation of our team's hard work and dedication to driving innovation in sustainability,” said Cindy Demichel, CEO and Cofounder of Celsius Energy, a new energy business of SLB. “It’s also a validation of the important role of geoenergy in creating a cleaner, more sustainable future. Heating and cooling represent half of the building industry global carbon footprint. We are honored to be recognized for our efforts and excited to continue inspiring positive change.”
Celsius Energy has completed projects in France, and is currently expanding its geoenergy solution in Europe and entering the North American markets, focusing on the Northeast U.S. and Canada. Results from diverse installations in France show up to 75% reduction of energy consumption and up to 85% reduction in CO2e emissions.
In 2022, SLB received the SEAL Environmental Initiative Award in recognition of quantifiably reducing GHG emissions in oil and gas operations through the Transition Technologies portfolio.
“Climate action is at the heart of our corporate strategy, reflecting who we are as a global technology company driving energy innovation for a balanced planet,” said Mikki Corcoran, VP Sustainability, SLB. “We are proud that our sustainability leadership has been recognized by SEAL for a second consecutive year.”
