Tech spotlight: SLB launches industry-first AI solution for entire production networks

SLB recently launched OptiSite™ facility, equipment and pipeline solutions, which will enable end-to-end oversight of an entire production network.

The cloud-based solutions pair digital twins with artificial intelligence (AI) to rapidly transform comprehensive data streams. This will allow predictive and advisory insights for individual users tailored to their own role and responsibility.

What it offers

With OptiSite, SLB’s customers will be able to make smarter and more proactive decisions on facility performance and emissions control, including process optimization, asset health and reliability, and pipeline integrity.

Why it matters

“The ability to leverage AI and generative AI tools across the entire production network is a first,” said Steve Gassen, SLB’s president of Production Systems. “The production landscape is highly fragmented with multiple equipment types and manufacturers, so it has been difficult for our customers to truly visualize their data in real time from equipment and assets across an entire network. OptiSite makes that possible now.”

Tech in action

In customer trials, OptiSite solutions have delivered significant improvements in performance and sustainability. At a facility in the Middle East, OptiSite solutions predicted 88 percent of failures with up to 21 days warning ― minimizing unplanned shutdowns and reducing the risk of fugitive emissions. For another customer in the United States, OptiSite solutions avoided 15 days of potential shutdown time and resulting production losses.
