FLS-DAN
API 6A double-acting actuated drilling gate valve
For positive control of gate valves for many drilling applications, Cameron offers the FLS-DAN gate valve. This design is a combination of the field-proven FLS extreme service API 6A slab-style gate valve with a double-acting hydraulic actuator. The FLS gate valve is widely recognized as a high-quality valve for severe service applications. The fullbore, through-conduit FLS-DAN gate valve is available in standard double flange, threaded-end, and special block body configurations.
The gate valve is fitted with a balancing lower stem to work with a double acting hydraulic actuator to provide positive, reliable control through the entire stroke of the valve. Should a failure of hydraulic power occur, this valve will remain in position.
Advantages
- Double acting actuator that requires hydraulic power to both open and close, providing positive control during operations
- Balancing stem that allows gate to stay in position unless hydraulic power is supplied to actuator to positively open or close valve
- Forged valve body available in pressure ratings from 3,000 to 15,000 psi and bore sizes from 1 13/16 to 4 1/16 in
- Positive metal-to-metal sealing (gate-to-seat and seat-to-body)
- Bidirectional flow that provides usage versatility and increased service life
- Two spring-loaded, pressure-energized, nonelastomeric lip seals between each seat and body, which assist in low-pressure sealing and protect against intrusion of particle contaminants into the body cavity and seal areas
- Stem seal design that covers a wide range of pressures, temperatures, and fluids encountered in wellhead and manifold service
- Metal-to-metal bonnet seal
- Stem that can be backseated to allow stem seal replacement with the valve under pressure
- Grease injection fitting downstream of stem back seat for increased safety and fitting in bonnet that helps eliminate body penetration
- Manual locking screw that maintains the gate (valve) in the closed position without any operating pressure in the actuator
- Use of socket head cap screws to tie down actuator head flanges, reducing area exposed to corrosive environments
