AxeBlade bits use ridged Axe elements, which are designed with a unique geometry that cuts rock with a combination of shearing and crushing. This cutting method achieves at least 22% deeper penetration, removing more formation to provide higher instantaneous ROP when using the same WOB and rpm applied to conventional PDC cutters. In addition, the reduced cutting force required by Axe elements means less overall torque and reactive torque fluctuation, as well as better toolface control in curve applications.
