SLB dynamic reservoir evaluation (DRE) services provide advanced digital enablers that streamline the evaluation process, saving time and mitigating risk. These services increase efficiency, lower costs, and help operators meet sustainability goals. In this SPE Tech Talk, our experts Khaled El-Mandouh and Francois-Xavier Dubost discuss how reservoir evaluation has developed over the last century and the digital innovations that optimize operations today.
The conversation begins with review of the founding of reservoir evaluation by Conrad and Marcel Schlumberger in 1926. They created a new technology by bringing metrology—the science of measurement—to the oil field for investigating reservoirs for hydrocarbons. Over nearly a century, reservoir evaluation has continued to improve, and today SLB DRE provides invaluable services to operators all over the world.
For high-profile operations, the purpose of DRE digital services is to deliver connectivity, intelligence, and automation. Connectivity, from basic rig communications all the way up to real-time streaming off site, provides full visibility to ensure the operator always knows what is going on during operations. Intelligent planning refers to AI and machine learning that optimize operations so operators can make decisions within the operational time frame based on a wide range of data. These services equip the operator with all the information needed to contextualize the data that impacts the current operation and future productivity. Also, as these technologies advance, there are more options for autonomous control that ensures consistency and expertise.
Our experts also discuss some of the many proven SLB technologies that are revolutionizing reservoir performance.
These new DRE technologies deliver accelerated intelligent workflows and increase accuracy to optimize your reservoir performance. These and other SLB innovations change the game significantly in terms of efficiency, accuracy, and carbon reduction.
