The HiWAY technique creates open pathways inside the fracture, enabling hydrocarbons to flow through the stable channels rather than the proppant.
HiWAY
Flow-channel fracturing technique.

The HiWAY flow-channel fracturing technique significantly increases fracture conductivity while reducing water and proppant consumption for higher short- and long-term production, simpler logistics, and a smaller operational footprint. The HiWAY technique uses specialized blenders and standard pumping equipment to deliver proppant in short, intermittent pulses at a high-frequency. A geomechanical model is used to engineer a customized pumping schedule and perforation or completion strategies to achieve infinite fracture conductivity.
