Schlumberger performs unconventional rapid resource assessment to provide evaluation early on and help operators move forward to the pilot project phase with an informed play chance success map. This evaluation is condensed into a 3-month period of looking at the seismic, petrophysics, and other data to filter it through to spatial and lithology maps, organic content maps, and porosity maps that are built into the petroleum systems model. This model enables evaluation of maturity, where hydrocarbons have been generated, and where they have been retained within the source rock. All of these data are used in the play chance mapping technique to best predict the location of the sweet spots.
