The power of FWI was demonstrated in deepwater Australia, where an operator's objective was delineating velocities in the channel system of the overburden. Schlumberger collaborated with the customer to deploy FWI, which produced a final migrated model that contained highly detailed overburden velocity field information. This quality data helped the operator significantly improve reservoir positioning and optimize drilling decisions with greater certainty.
