SLB is committed to helping deliver the world’s greatest balancing act: enabling secure, accessible, sustainable energy to meet growing demand. And, as always, the first step is to look inward. We're rethinking the way we design, operate, and navigate to not only reduce our own emissions but report back on our methods and progress openly. In fact, we have only a few percentage points to go before reaching our 2025 goal!
We were also the first, amongst our peers, to take a Scope 3 emissions net zero commitment, meaning we invest heavily in the tech our customers need to reduce their own energy consumption and emissions. This doesn't just include decarbonizing oil and gas, although that is one of our top priorities. We're tackling hard-to-abate industries like steel and cement, as well, equipping our engineers with the digital tools they need to make credible assessments and informed recommendations.
We have a long history of thinking differently, of pioneering new tech and approaches. This culture holds true today as we continue delivering innovative ways of tackling our planet's challenges.
Be it underground or in the atmosphere, we know how the earth works. Which is why we're leaning on decades of science and engineering to accelerate decarbonization through solutions such as carbon capture and storage, geothermal, and geoenergy. We have the knowledge and experience to build them best—best for our customers, our communities, and our environment.
Putting it simply: We know how to decarbonize the energy mix for a balanced planet and are focused on doing exactly that.
The world is rapidly changing—the scales are imbalanced, and many are feeling the effects.
The world’s energy mix must transform into one that can continue to meet demand safely, securely, and reliably while decarbonizing for a lower-carbon future. Opportunity should exist for people and their communities to contribute to this challenge, and there must be careful consideration for the environment in which they live and operate.
Together, we will pave the way to a balanced planet through better practices, innovative technology, and the commitment to help others on their journey across the globe.
