MEALF 2025 pre-forum workshops

Monday, 20 January
Time 0800–1700 GST (UTC +4)
Location Meeting Room 2
Workshop 2 PCP/ESPCP course
Presenters
Benigno Montilla—SLB
Paul Skoczylas—PCM

Course description

Progressing cavity pumps (PCPs) have proved themselves to be a highly effective form of artificial lift in applications with heavy oil, produced solids, or both. Their range of applications has expended to include high-temperature environments, gassy wells, and medium or light oil production. We will briefly look at the history of the PCP and examine what a PCP is and what makes it different from other forms of artificial lift. How a PCP is selected for an application will be reviewed, including its geometry, elastomer, and drive system (rods, centralizers, drivehead, etc.) Common problems with PCP systems, and their possible resolutions will be discussed. Finally, ESPCP systems will be discussed in detail, including their applications, advantages and disadvantages, and the design process.

Navigate any well: Reda Agile compact wide-range ESP system

  • The innovative shorter and lighter design of the Reda™ Agile™ compact wide-range ESP system reduces assembly and installation time and then easily navigates doglegs and other complicated trajectories to go farther in your well.

  • Your production efficiency is enhanced by the widest ESP operating range in the industry. Simply adjust the motor speed instead of having to replace this ESP system as production varies.

  • Our modular manufacturing reduces Agile ESP system’s embedded carbon footprint.

Lift any fluid at lower power consumption: Reda PowerEdge energy-efficient wide-range ESPCP system

  • The Reda PowerEdge™ energy-efficient wide-range ESPCP system can lift any API gravity and high gas and solids content.

  • Going rodless makes the ESPCP system easier to install farther in the well and also eliminates sucker rod–related failures.

  • The extensive redesign reduces both power consumption and related CO2 emissions by up to 55%.

  • Repurpose existing ESP surface equipment and cables when you install a PowerEdge ESPCP system.
