MMRG-2V-B Series side pocket mandrels | SLB

MMRG-2V-B Series side pocket mandrels

Barrier Series dual-pocket mandrels for 1.5-in [38.1-mm] gas lift valves

Applications

  • High-pressure, deepwater installations
  • Subsea installations
  • Safety-critical applications with stringent pressure integrity requirements
  • Standard installations

Benefits

  • Reduce downtime by eliminating the need for annulus fluid unloading after typical slickline operations
  • Lower costs and downtime through improved pressure integrity of the entire wellbore environment

Features

  • Field-proven, dual-pocket side pocket configuration uses inline redundant barriers: a gas lift valve (GLV) in the primary pocket and a tubing-to-casing barrier valve (TCBV) in the secondary pocket
  • Integral TCBV, qualified to API Spec 19G2 V0, prevents tubing-to-casing communication when the GLV is removed
  • Compatible Barrier Series GLVs incorporate a back-check design qualified to API Spec 19G2 V0
  • Mandrels are qualified to API Spec 19G1 V1 and feature premium metallurgy

How they improve performance

MMRG-2V-B Series side pocket mandrels (SPMs) are Barrier Series dual-pocket SPMs that enhance the capability of existing gas lift systems. They use a field-proven, dual-pocket side pocket configuration with inline redundant barriers. This configuration of dual bores and communication portals enables use of two separate retrievable valves—the GLV and TCBV—that work independently to simultaneously serve both the flow control and pressure barrier requirements of the gas lift system.

The fully machined mandrel has a round body and an integral twin 1.5-in-bore pocket design with a dual-tool discriminator for the GLV and TCBV. The primary pocket accepts all standard and Barrier Series 1.5-in-OD GLVs. The TCBV prevents communication between the tubing and casing when the GLV is removed from its pocket. Both valves are slickline retrievable.

The mandrel design can incorporate flush-mounted, full-length slots to facilitate cable and control line bypass. This feature reduces the running OD while providing maximum line protection.
