Product Sheet CN NOVATEC F Filtration-Control Additive
Used as a fluid-loss reducer in the NOVATEC synthetic drilling fluid system.
Filtration-control additive
NOVATEC F additive is a maleated rosin polymer glycol ether used as a fluid-loss reducer in the NOVATEC synthetic drilling fluid system.
NOVATEC F additive is also effective in reducing filtration properties in synthetic paraffin- and mineral-oil-based systems.
Typical Physical Properties | |
Physical appearance | Dark-brown liquid |
Specific gravity | 1.01 |
Solubility | Insoluble in water |
Flash point | >167 degF [>75 degC] |
Viscosity, cP at 77 degF [25 degC] | 129 |
Boiling point (760-mm Hg) | 356 degF [180 degC] |
Freezing point | 23 degF [–5 degC] |
NOVATEC F additive is used to provide supplementary fluid-loss control in the NOVATEC system, normally at high oil/water ratios and at temperatures >300 degF [>149 degC]. Treatment levels required depend on the desired filtration control, the brine ratio and density of the drilling fluid but will typically be in the range of 0.33 to 0.85 gal/bbl [8 to 20 L/m3]. Pilot testing to determine necessary concentration is recommended.
Bioassay information is available upon request. Handle as an industrial chemical, wearing protective equipment and observing the precautions described in the safety data sheet.
NOVATEC F additive is packaged in 55-galUS [208-L] steel drums with 195-kg net weight. Store in a tightly closed original container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place.
