EcoShield

Corrosion-resistant geopolymer cement-free system

Applications

  • Onshore cementing operations
  • Offshore cementing operations

Benefits

  • Maximizes life of well in corrosive environments throughout entire lifecycle, from  construction through to abandonment, delivering lower total cost of ownership and improving well production, injection, or storage capacities
  • Ensures higher resistance to corrosion and delivers better performance than conventional portland cement systems
  • Delivers industry-standard wellbore zonal isolation capabilities while minimizing environmental impact
  • Provides an alternative to conventional well cementing systems, which include manufactured portland cement, helping to ensure business continuity in cement supply-constrained markets and avoid nonproductive time

Features

  • Geopolymers are made from aluminosilicate, a more robust and durable material considered a sustainable alternative to portland cement
  • System fits within standard oilfield cementing workflows without major changes needed to the design process, onsite execution, or postjob evaluation
  • Conventional logging tools can be used to evaluate the performance of the set geopolymer downhole

Geopolymers are unique amorphous materials made from aluminosilicate, which makes them more durable in highly corrosive environments. A comprehensive lab evaluation of the EcoShield™ corrosion-resistant geopolymer cement-free system at bottomhole conditions proved that its use for primary cementing in highly corrosive environments is more effective and durable than conventional well barrier solutions.

How it improves performance

Our EcoShield corrosion-resistant system provides better durability in comparison with conventional well cementing systems in corrosive downhole environments.

How it works

The system offers corrosion resistance while matching the rheology, thickening time, and compressive strength as conventional Portland cement-based systems.
