The International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) Outstanding Young Professional Award is an initiative in association with the biennial SPE Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Social Responsibility (HSSE-SR) International Conference that recognizes the achievements of an individual with fewer than 10 years of professional E&P experience.
The inaugural award was presented to Schlumberger HSE team member Muriel Barnier at the 2016 HSSE-SR conference.
The award committee received over 70 nominations from around the world and selected five finalists with outstanding professional accomplishments in addition to dedication and leadership in at least one aspect of HSEE-SR.
Barnier's nomination highlighted her key role in implementing and managing HSE for Youth, a Schlumberger program focused on sharing HSE expertise within the communities where the company operates, to keep young people and their families more safe, and more aware of the importance of HSE both in the workplace and at home.
The HSE for Youth program was initiated in 2008 by the Schlumberger HSE organization and is facilitated through workshops led by trained volunteers that include Schlumberger employees and their spouses. Since its inception, the program has provided age-appropriate workshops to children around the world. Reaching out to young people from ages 8 to 18, HSE for Youth focuses on nine topics where Schlumberger can share its HSE expertise: injury prevention, internet safety, road safety, personal security, HIV/AIDS, malaria, Ebola, water, and climate change.
