Schlumberger Oilfield Services

The annual E&P Meritorious Awards for Engineering Innovation recognize new technologies in the upstream petroleum industry that demonstrate innovation in concept, design and application and reflect excellence in technological development.

In 2017 Schlumberger technologies are awarded in six categories:

Artificial Lift

ZEiTECS Shuttle rigless ESP replacement system enables any standard ESP assembly to be retrieved and redeployed without a rig—using wireline, coiled tubing (CT), or sucker rods.

Drillbits

AxeBlade Ridged Diamond Element Bit features unique ridge-shaped Axe* elements that combines the shearing action of a conventional PDC cutter with the crushing action of a tungsten carbide insert to achieve increased ROP and better steerability.

Drilling Fluids/Stimulation

OpenPath Sequence diversion stimulation service is the first in the industry to use degradable fibers to suspend multimodal particles—a combination that enables the sequential stimulation of zones and intervals to maximize near-wellbore coverage.

Drilling Systems

PowerDrive Orbit rotary steerable system is a highly reliable RSS that provides operators improved hole quality and increased overall efficiency, as well as enhanced trajectory control for accurate well placement while drilling.

Hydraulic Fracturing/Pressure Pumping

AvantGuard Advanced Flowback Services optimizes well performance from poststimulation operations through production. Ongoing, real-time monitoring ensures the well is performing within a secure operating envelope—protecting both the hydraulic fractures and ROI during the lifetime of the well.

Intelligent Systems and Components

Maze Microfluidic SARA Analysis fully automates the process for testing oil samples for saturates, aromatics, resins, and asphaltenes—coupling novel microfluidic chip technology and spectroscopy—for precise measurements that are always repeatable and reproducible.
