At the 2010 SPE Annual Technology Conference and Exhibition, Schlumberger announced the release of ACTive PS integrated coiled tubing production services. This new service couples real-time fiber-optic telemetry with existing, advanced wireline production logging tools. The ACTive PS service optimizes work efficiency and early production and minimizes the environmental impact of equipment footprint at the wellsite. ACTive PS technology has been successfully deployed in Mexico, the United States, and Saudi Arabia. In the Barnett Shale, ConocoPhillips employed the ACTive PS service to understand the effectiveness of the fracture completion program on their dry gas wells using a combination of distributed temperature survey and production logging technologies. The ACTive PS service allowed ConocoPhillips to eliminate one downhole trip per well, resulting in reduced risk, cost, and nonproductive time.
