The StingBlade bit enabled Xibu-Aktobe to save 28 days of rig time versus the planned drilling schedule of Zhanazhol 2369. In the directional section, the bit’s improved steerability did not limit the penetration rate.

背景
In an interbedded dolomite formation in the Aktobe region of Kazakhstan, Xibu-Aktobe sought to improve ROP, footage, and toolface control while mitigating downhole tool vibration in an 8 1/2-in openhole directional section. The StingBlade conical diamond element bit was selected to drill through the hard dolomite as well as plastic shales and claystone. A single bit was used to drill the entire directional section with improved cutter durability and wear resistance for increased footage and ROP. The bit exhibited enhanced steerability by turning an azimuth from 90° to 160°, successfully reaching the target.
