Rated to 15,000 psi [103,420 kPa] and 400 degF [205 degC], the Copperhead Extreme plugs are well suited for reservoirs with high fracturing pressures. The aluminum alloy plugs stay locked downhole under extreme temperatures and pressures without degrading, and their solid core enables them to hold pressure from both directions. A unique activation system allows the seal to withstand multiple pressure reversals. A proprietary slip design eliminates presetting, and a rotational lock mechanism prevents slipping and spinning during plug removal.

背景

An operator needed frac plugs that would withstand high differential pressures during multistage stimulation operations in an extended-reach horizontal well. Because of an expected delay involving the surface equipment, the frac plugs would need to stay in place for at least 2 weeks before flowback. The operator had previously found competitors' plugs to be unreliable in this environment.
