Middle East operator eliminates killing the well in removing formation damage, reducing NPT

Qatargas used CIRP™ completion insertion and removal under pressure equipment in a sour field for perforations and flow back.
Large-bore CIRP equipment were used for limitless perforation and isolation tool options. This enabled deployment of a long perforation string exceeding 1,000 ft under live well conditions with surface pressure. As a result, all completion operations could be performed during a single rig-up without the need to rig down the upper intervention stack up—significantly lowering associated NPT—all while avoiding formation damage and excess completion fluid costs.

CIRP™ completion insertion and removal under pressure equipment

背景

The North Field is a giant sour gas field in the center of the Arabic Gulf. Qatargas wanted to perforate, stimulate, and flow back carbonate formations within the field in a timely manner. H2S and CO2 (up to 3%) added to the operational complexity.
