Since the award of the PSA for the redevelopment of the fields within the Cheleken Block in Turkmenistan, production has increased from under 7,000 bbl/d of oil in year 2000 to an impressive 100,000 bbl/d of oil by mid-2015. Pressures, volumes, temperatures and densities, among other production data, are recorded on an hourly basis through the field. The excessive manpower required to collect, validate and process these thousands of data points on a daily basis made justifiable the introduction of an automatic data gathering system. This system allowed the operator to substantially reduce the time required for data input and validation and therefore make easier and faster the decision making process. Most of the wells produce by natural flow and therefore are very sensitive to GOR and water cut changes as well as wax deposition. Faster decision making in all processes that control these parameters reduced downtime and maximized field production capacity.
