Prequalified valve designs and materials for long-term high performance in hydrogen applications
Our broad offering of valves spans applications from hydrogen production and processing through transportation and storage of hydrogen (including blends).
Although many standards are written for testing methane fugitive emissions resistance, all of our valves for H2 service have been fugitive emissions certified (FE certified) using helium to prove their sealing capabilities against the smallest molecules.
Only prequalification of materials against long-term effects and design validation tests, including refined high-pressure gas seat tests, can prove suitability over the life of the product. A mere factory acceptance test is insufficient.
We’re supporting the industry in the development of standards for secure, reliable valves for hydrogen, including specification of requirements for materials, design, and testing.
We’re more than just valves for hydrogen applications. We also have the services you need, including digital enablement, monitoring, valve evaluation for repurposing pipelines for H2 service, and a suite of total valve care solutions.
When it comes to hydrogen production and applications, using the right valves is critical. In this SPE Tech Talk, our expert reviews the safety concerns and how hydrogen effects materials.
Watch premium contentThe production, transport, and use of hydrogen (H2) as a fuel, feedstock, or energy carrier is significantly changing in response to the challenges posed by the global energy transition. However, hydrogen poses fugitive emissions and safety concerns, and much is yet to be learned about the long-term effect of hydrogen on materials and hence the functionality of valves in hydrogen service.
